Acrobatics for dancers incorporates elements of gymnastics, jazz, balancing, tumbling and basic contortion. Students learn acrobatic tricks such as handstands, cartwheels, chest stands, elbow stands, walkovers, side and front aerials and tumbling. Acro creates a much more versatile dancer as students must develop a good foundation of strength and flexibility, thus emphasis is placed on extensive conditioning and stretch and strength training. The instructor uses professional spotting techniques necessary to ensure safety and build confidence.
